Yes! The New Routemaster conversions are still going ahead despite the new London Mayor’s opposition to the 3 door 2 staircase hybrid bus. He stated that he won’t be making any more new purchases of New Routemaster buses.

Now for a quick news update from LOTS.

Sunday 5 June

The conversion to LT on route 91 is now complete and that on the 211 about half-done. A fourth BYD electric double-deck is now in use at Metroline; although there are four it is rare to have more than one in service on route 98 at any one time.

New London United VHs continue to arrive although most go to store, The first five of CTPlus’ new E400H-City buses (batch 2501-21) for route 26 have now been delivered. Commencement of delivery of Stagecoach’s E40H/ E400MMCs (batch 12365-400) for route 53 is imminent. These will allow diesel E400s to go to Romford for route 86.

What it needs is an increase of zero emission buses in order to cut down on diesel emissions in the Central London area. There should also be an increase in hybrid buses, for example, the bus routes that serve Romford still have diesel buses! But hopefully in the near future when the next tender comes, we might see some hybrid cast offs from routes which served the Inner London area.

Here’s an update on the tender awards from TFL:

LBSL intends to enter into the following contracts:
